Company history
At the beginning of the 18th century, the French arrived in the territory of Cavaglià. The town, rich in vineyards, orchards and nurseries, shared with Roppolo the pride of the claretti wines which, if aged, equaled the best of Sicily and Sardinia. Already in the mid-1800s there was a thriving trade between Genoa and Cavaglià of this fine wine, which was transported in chestnut wood barrels to ensure good conservation.
For 35 years the owners of the Rolej company have been Adriana Vallotto and her husband, from Milan, passionate about wine, attentive to the expansion and improvement of the vines and the processing of wines.
Why did we choose them
In Milan, during a wine tasting, we met the sommelier Ambrogio Boniardi who presented the wines of the Piedmontese rolej winery produced with Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Erbaluce vines. We loved the Roleto, Nebbiolo in purity, the latest addition to the Rolej family.
In his display of the "terroir", the characteristics of the land where the vines are grown were highlighted. In fact, Rolej wines are obtained from the selection of grapes from vineyards with midday exposure, located on the highest ridge of the company grounds, located on the hills of the morainic amphitheater of Sella d'Ivrea.
